In the heart of Downtown Rochester, we are surrounded by about 10,000 people who live and work within a quarter of a mile of our salon space.

  • We look over Parcel 5 where we are immersed in the incredible energy that multiple events and festivals take place.

  • We are steps away from MLK Park where we can hear the buzz from summer concerts, festivals, and events.

  • Across the street in either direction, we are connected to other communities and networks of businesses and future clients.

We are hairstylists who believe our clients deserve to experience a service curated specifically for their needs as well as our own business + life aspirations. 

  • We have the option to rent a station or a private room in our cooperative-style space. Our space curates an environment that supports a higher price point and professionalism so you’ll be able to charge what you want and need.

    You’ll have access to a your space Tuesday through Saturday, leaving Sundays and Mondays for events and education. You’ll also have access to all communal spaces including a client waiting area, client tea and coffee, high-end retail products, restrooms, storage, sanitation sink, laundry, office/break room, 6 wash stations, 3 shared processing chairs, and the service floor.

    We supply high-end luxury shampoos and conditioner to use on your guests, 3 hair steamers, color trays, communal detangling combs and brushes, and all your capes and towels.

    Oh… and high-speed internet, we need that!

  • Parking in Downtown doesn’t have to deter you or your clients. Parking in Midtown Parking Garage, with 24/7 security, is included in your rent.

    You’ll receive a monthly parking pass, typically $20 a month, which gives you unlimited parking even during festivals and events.

    We validate your client’s parking so both you and your clients don’t have to pay during their visit, typically $2-$10 per client.

    Street parking is also free after 6pm and on weekends.

  • Experiential Learning is the process of learning by doing. Through hands-on experiences and reflection, you are better able to connect theories and knowledge learned to opening your own suite or salon.

    You’ll be able to learn how to do inventory, work with vendors, host events, network IRL, and all the ins-and-outs of running a business.

    You’ll expand your business + technical experience with self-directed learning and support from your co-business owners.

  • Maybe you want to launch your business, you’re brand new to this industry, or you need a change after 30+ years. Wherever you fall on the spectrum, we are happy to guide you with access to education and monthly 1-on-1 business coaching.

    You’ll have the opportunity to learn the foundational knowledge you will need to build a sustainable business with a work/life harmony. We host bi-weekly industry specific education, host community classes, and events.

  • Need + Co. hosts networking events, educational events, shopping days, and more following the seasons and the festivals in our front yard offering you the platform to network and build a clientele.

    Advertising and marketing through multiple channels.

    You are able to build a web presence on our site to create a space for your future clients to find and contact you with direct booking links and social media feeds.

    Though we are all independent, we work to help each other and the space grow and evolve together.

Available Space

Station on the Main Floor

You’ll have your own chair, it is not shared with others, a locker, and ample storage for your supplies. You’ll have a month-to-month lease for $1300 a month or $300 a week.

Private Room

You’ll have your own 10x10 room with a hand-washing sink. Bring your own furniture or rent our cutting chair or electric facial/massage bed. You’ll have a 6-month lease for $1520 a month or $350 a week.

Tiered-Rental Agreement

If the space allows, we do work with new-to-the-industry folks who want to build their business without an existing clientele. We only accept one at a time and begin a 12-month lease starting at $50 a week.
